The most important part of your productivity working at home is the laptop. And now that you're working your full time job, all from home, it's quite possible you want to get a better one. Best Value - $650

First up is the Acer Aspire 5 14", one from the line of incredibly popular student laptops. The newest 2020 edition we're going with includes a compelling quad-core Intel i7 processor, 8 gigabytes of DDR4 RAM, and a huge 512 gigabytes of SSD storage, all in a 14" screen laptop. Additionally, this laptops comes with a decent 720p webcam and a bonus 32gb USB drive. This laptop will certainly be able to handle the work tasks you throw at it and quite possibly some gaming as well.

Coming in at a pricier $1000, the 2020 Macbook Air certainly charges some brand tax. The processor is an unremarkable core i3 dual-core, the RAM is a rather dinky 8 gigabytes (for a $1000 laptop), the ports are awful (2 usb-c, so you can't attach a mouse, keyboard, thumb drive, or any other USB 3.0 device), and the storage is a decent 256gb. However, you get the benefits of Apple - a user-friendly OS, excellent customer service, trustworthy durability, and a sublime trackpad. This laptop also has an outstanding 2K screen and a fingerprint reader. If you drop an extra $300, you double the storage and increase the processor to a quad-core i5. Overall, not a great value in terms of raw power, but the best if you need the benefits Apple offers.

Touchscreen 2-in-1 - $800

Another style of laptop that has come into popularity recently is the 2-in-1. As well as running Windows 10, enabling all the functions of a laptop, the keyboard can be folded all the way around and there is a touchscreen. There is oftentimes a pen you can use with 2-in-1s as well. The 2-in-1 we've chosen is the 2020 Lenovo Flex. It comes with an excellent Ryzen 7 quad-core processor, 12gb of DDR4 RAM, 512gb of SSD, and a fingerprint reader. This laptop will be serviceable for light gaming and all the work tasks you throw at it, as well as offering the benefits of a touchscreen, such as superior drawing and writing characters in other languages.
