Cricket is the oldest and most popular sport in the world. The game of cricket has been played since the early 18th century. In cricket, two teams of eleven players each compete to score runs by batting and to dismiss the other team. The winner of the game is the team that scores more runs. Points are scored by either batting a ball or capturing an opposing team’s wicket by a bowler. The play is designed to make it difficult for batsmen to score runs and for bowlers to get them out. There are three types of cricket: test cricket, one-day cricket, and Twenty20. Test cricket is the longest form of the game, lasting up to five days. One-day cricket, on the other hand, is a short game that lasts for about three hours per match. Lastly, Twenty20 cricket has become increasingly popular, with games ending with a result far more often than in Test cricket or one-day cricket. Friendly, competitive cricket has been played between nations for hundreds of years, with the earliest international match taking place between Canada and the United States in 1844.
