Lata Mangeshkar was born in Indore Central province which is now in Madhya Pradesh of India in the year 1929 (28 September). She is the eldest child of her parents, father Deenanath Mangeshkar and mother Shevanti Mangeshkar.
Lata Mangeshkar‘s father was a famous Marathi theatre actor, musician and also a vocalist. His father belongs to a small town in Goa called Mangeshkar and this is the reason why he changed his surname from Haridkar to Mangeshkar.
